Hotel Sultan Still Accepting Guests Ahead of Eviction Execution Tomorrow
Activity at Hotel Sultan in the Senayan area of Jakarta remains normal amid increased security presence and a gathering crowd around the hotel area ahead of an eviction attempt on Thursday (18/6/2026). Based on observations at the location, hotel operations are continuing. Security teams and employees are still seen serving guests arriving and those already inside the hotel. However, the number of guests visible is not as busy as on typical days. On the other hand, the presence of security forces remains quite conspicuous. A number of police trucks and vehicles are still on standby around the Hotel Sultan area and the surrounding Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex. A crowd wearing blue shirts is also still visible around the Hotel Sultan gate. As time passes, some of the crowd have been seen entering the hotel area. Information circulating on the ground suggests the crowd plans to return the following day. A coffee stall trader in the Senayan East Parking area, who declined to be named, said the blue-shirted group seen inside the hotel area entered through available access after several routes around the location were closed. ‘The blue-shirts are from inside Hotel Sultan because all the roads are closed,’ said Eni (not her real name) to CNBC Indonesia at the location on Wednesday (17/6/2026). Another trader in the same area revealed that security forces began arriving since midday. According to him, the police presence increased towards the afternoon. ‘The police started coming from midday, around 2.30pm WIB they were already arriving,’ said Roni (not his real name). Although security has been tightened and crowd activity continues around Hotel Sultan, the GBK complex is not entirely deserted. A number of residents were still seen exercising and jogging in the sports complex area as usual. Until the afternoon, several tactical vehicles and police trucks were still on guard around the location. The overall situation was observed to be conducive, while hotel activity continues albeit with relatively quieter guest traffic.
