The execution of a land eviction order at Hotel Sultan in Central Jakarta was marred by chaos. A group of people opposing the execution pelted officers with stones and wood.

Based on detikcom’s observation at the location on Thursday (18/6/2026), the chaos began after the Central Jakarta District Court bailiff read out the land execution ruling. Initially, the crowd shouted, demanding that officers not carry out the execution today.

The police then asked the gathered crowd to immediately move away from the location. However, they persisted and began throwing stones.

Several police officers carrying shields advanced. They were assisted by TNI personnel in deflecting the projectiles from the crowd.

Shortly afterwards, the police deployed a water cannon. The crowd began to disperse and retreat.

Some individuals started to flee. However, police officers detained several people suspected of causing the disturbance.

Before the execution began, Central Jakarta District Court Bailiff Azhar read out the ruling regarding the Hotel Sultan dispute. Azhar stated that the land eviction had legal force.

“Adjudged: One, to grant the Petitioners’ application above. Two, to order the Bailiff of the Central Jakarta District Court, or if he is unable, to appoint one competent bailiff accompanied by two witnesses and, if necessary, with the assistance of the Indonesian National Police or other instruments of state power,” said Azhar.

Azhar ordered that Hotel Sultan be vacated. He demanded the land be returned to the plaintiff, namely the State Secretariat.

“To carry out the execution of the eviction and return to the Counterclaim Plaintiffs the land parcels of former HGB 26/Gelora and former HGB 27/Gelora along with the buildings and everything attached thereto. Three, to charge the costs arising from this determination according to law,” he added.
