Several gates in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta, will be temporarily closed following the planned execution of the Hotel Sultan land on Thursday (18/6). Information regarding the temporary closure of several GBK gates was shared via a post on the Instagram account @love_gbk. “In the context of executing the eviction of the former Hotel Sultan (BLOCK 15 GBK Area), for the smoothness and comfort of #GBKPeople, operational adjustments will be made,” the post stated, as quoted on Wednesday (17/6). According to the post, the temporary closure applies to Gate 5, Gate 7, and Gate 8. The closure will be in effect from 00.00 to 24.00 WIB. During the temporary closure, access in and out of the GBK area will be diverted to Gate 2, Gate 10, and Gate 6 (for pedestrians). Additionally, temporary closures also apply to the East Parking area, City Forest, Softball Stadium, and Jalan KTT up to JICC. The closure will be from 00.00 to 24.00 WIB. Meanwhile, other areas and zones within GBK will continue to operate as usual. The Central Jakarta District Court has determined that the execution of the eviction of Block 15 GBK, the former Hotel Sultan area, will be carried out on Thursday (18/6). Prior to the execution, the Central Jakarta District Court also conducted a constatering, or data matching of the disputed object, as a follow-up to the Hotel Sultan land execution plan on Monday (16/3). However, the execution still faces opposition from PT Indobuildco, the operator of Hotel Sultan. PT Indobuildco’s legal counsel, Hamdan Zoelva, stated that his party strongly rejects the execution plan, which he claims could become a source of legal problems and injustice. According to him, forcing the execution will cause various issues. Hamdan argued that the statement claiming the execution is the final stage oversimplifies the legal matter, as there is a hotel building, business activities, workers, tenants, vendors, and third-party rights on the land that cannot be ignored. “What must be understood is that the dispute is over the land, not the building and not the hotel business. The Hotel Sultan business is absolutely owned by PT Indobuildco,” Hamdan said in his statement on Wednesday (27/5).
