Hotel Sultan GBK Eviction Set for 18 June 2026: What's the Plan?
JAKARTA — The Hotel Sultan land in Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta, will be transformed into an integrated green open space with public transport links after eviction enforcement on 18 June 2026. The government, through the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), stated the former hotel area will be developed into a larger, more inclusive green space for the public. The development concept will integrate with public transport modes such as the MRT under a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) scheme.
PPKGBK Director Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo said during a press conference at GBK on Tuesday, 3 February 2026: “Ensuring the green space benefits are maximised, including in Block 15 or former HGB 26-27.” He added that initial designs have been prepared to allow public access from stations and public transport networks, with future development integrated with station and MRT access.
Alongside a new park, the government aims to create public interaction spaces currently limited due to commercial use of the area.
Legal representative for the State Secretary Minister and PPKGBK, Kharis Sucipto, confirmed the decision is final. In a written statement on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, he said: “This is a final determination. The court has set 18 June 2026 as the date for eviction enforcement of GBK Block 15.” He noted an Eviction Enforcement Notification dated 19 May 2026 was sent to PT Indobuildco, operator of Hotel Sultan, with a one-month grace period for voluntary and orderly clearance.
“With the one-month grace period, we hope PT Indobuildco will vacate the site voluntarily,” he added. He also stressed the execution date marks the final stage of a lengthy state asset recovery process in GBK. “The legal process to recover state assets has reached its conclusion. The state has gone through all legal channels, the court has issued its ruling, and now it’s just execution,” Kharis said.
