Hotel Sultan Execution Turns Chaotic, Kivlan Zen Injured by Barbed Wire
The execution of the Hotel Sultan land in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area of Central Jakarta ended in chaos on Thursday (18/6), with former Kostrad Chief of Staff Kivlan Zen suffering an injury to his hand. After security forces managed to push back the crowd resisting the execution, Kivlan was seen sitting in a chair in the hotel lobby. His left hand was bandaged and showed blood stains. Kivlan claimed he was present as a proxy for the heirs. He said he was struck by barbed wire during the commotion. “Because of the push from behind, I went straight into the barbed wire. It’s fine, so there is my blood for the struggle,” Kivlan said. Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Bambang Eko Suhariyanto previously stated that the execution of the Hotel Sultan land was part of an order from President Prabowo Subianto. Bambang explained that the Hotel Sultan land is a state asset that was acquired by the government around 1959 for the fourth Asian Games. Bambang noted that for 50 years, the asset or land had been used by PT Indobuildco with many irregularities in the process. “So it can be said that Indobuildco has had a privilege for 50 years to control this asset,” he said. “This is a strategic asset, and the President has also conveyed that when it is returned to the state, this asset must be utilised to the greatest extent for the prosperity and welfare of the people. That is all we need to convey,” he continued.
