The Central Jakarta District Court, supported by joint TNI-Polri personnel, has successfully executed the eviction of the Hotel Sultan site in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6). Chandra M Hamzah, legal counsel for the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), stated that the evacuation process is currently underway. “Today, 18 June 2026, the Central Jakarta District Court has carried out the eviction execution, a real execution, in connection with the court’s ruling on the area known as Blok 15, the former Hotel Sultan,” Chandra told reporters at the location on Thursday afternoon. “The execution at this hour, this very second, the evacuation is ongoing. There are officers from the Central Jakarta District Court assisted by police and other officers,” he continued. Chandra explained that after the evacuation is complete, his party will coordinate with relevant parties regarding follow-up plans, including the utilisation of items within Hotel Sultan. “We will coordinate with the ministry, with the government. But as state property, its utilisation must comply with the PMK (Minister of Finance Regulation). Yes, so we will adhere to the PMK regarding the utilisation of state property,” he said. Regarding the rights to Blok 15 in the GBK area, Chandra reaffirmed that the government has never relinquished, sold, or transferred its rights to any party, including Indobuildco. “The rights were never transferred. So if Indobuildco claims to have acquired land rights, you should ask them directly. Is there a deed of sale? Is there a deed of rights release? Is there a grant deed? Is there an inheritance deed? Please ask them,” he stated. The execution operation involved security and escort assistance from 3,161 joint personnel from the TNI, Polri, and local government. The process was briefly marred by unrest, as a group resisting the eviction threw objects at the executors and the security forces. However, the resistance was successfully quelled. A total of 69 people have been detained by the police as a result of the disturbance.
