Deputy Minister of the State Secretariat (Wamen Sesneg), Juri Ardiantoro, has affirmed that the execution of the evacuation of the former Hotel Sultan represents a fulfilment of the state’s mandate. The step was taken to protect state assets while maintaining the government’s authority over wealth legally owned by the state.

Juri conveyed this during a press conference following the execution process in the Blok 15 area of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, on Thursday (18/6/2026). He expressed appreciation to all parties involved in the asset takeover process.

“Many thanks to all parties who have helped so that the takeover process of Hotel Sultan has been able to proceed as expected. We have carried out the mandate to safeguard state assets,” Juri said.

According to Juri, the takeover is not merely about the physical building but symbolises state sovereignty over its assets. “This is not just an asset, but also about maintaining the state’s authority to protect assets owned by the state,” he added.

Juri explained that this agenda is a historic event because the state asset in the GBK Blok 15 area had been managed by another party for approximately 50 years. Now, the asset has officially returned to the state’s embrace.

The execution process was carried out by bailiffs from the Central Jakarta District Court with full support from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, the Jaya Regional Military Command, local government, and related agencies. Although there was a minor incident involving a demonstration by a group of people, Juri confirmed that the overall process proceeded according to legal procedures.

“The important thing is that today we have completed one important agenda, a significant event: the return of state assets after 50 years of being managed by another party,” he stressed.

The President Director of the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPK GBK), Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo, stated that future management of the asset will refer to the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) and applicable laws. The main focus going forward is optimising the land for financial and social benefits.

“Going forward, PPK GBK together with the State Secretariat Ministry will certainly implement it according to the Minister of Finance regulation. We are obliged to optimise it immediately to bring positive impacts to the community, including the addition of public areas in Blok 15,” Rakhmadi explained.

In line with this, PPK GBK’s Legal Counsel, Chandra M. Hamzah, reminded that the utilisation of assets classified as State Property (BMN) must follow the provisions of PMK Number 115/PMK.06/2020. This was reinforced by the Director of State Wealth Policy Formulation, Encep Sudarwan, who confirmed that the former Hotel Sultan asset has been audited by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) as a state asset.

For context, the land was cleared by the government between 1959 and 1962 for the Asian Games IV. The government has consistently asserted that it never sold or transferred rights over the land to PT Indobuildco, which previously only held a Building Use Right (HGB) that has now expired.
