The Sub-Directorate 3 of the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Narcotics Directorate successfully halted the distribution of cannabis weighing approximately 3 kilograms in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta. In the operation, police arrested two middle-aged men suspected of being dealers.

The two suspects, identified as B (53) and T (49), were detained by Unit 5 of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate at the Mustika Hotel, Tanah Abang, on Wednesday (4/3/2026) at approximately 17:30 Western Indonesia Time.

The arrest followed a community report suspecting drug transactions at the location.

Head of Unit 5, Sub-Directorate 3 of the Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate, AKP Edy Lestari, confirmed that his team moved in after conducting an in-depth investigation. When raided in the hotel room, the two suspects were unable to put up any resistance.

‘We from Unit 5 Subdirectorate 3 have secured two suspects identified as B and T in the Tanah Abang area. Following the search, we found cannabis with a gross weight total of 3,042 grams (3 kg),’ Edy said in a statement on Friday (6/3/2026).

Edy said they seized three large packages and one small package containing cannabis ready for distribution. All the evidence has been taken to the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters for laboratory testing and for investigation into the network.

Edy also issued a firm warning to the public to stay away from all forms of drug abuse. He emphasised that drugs pose a real threat to the safety and future of the nation’s younger generation.

‘We urge the community to remain vigilant and stay away from drugs due to their highly damaging effects. Report any suspicious activity in your surroundings,’ he added.

Currently, investigators are continuing intensive questioning of B and T to trace the origin of the illicit goods and to probe the possible involvement of major distributors behind the circulation in Central Jakarta.
