Hotel Occupancy Rates During Eid 2026 Decline, Yogyakarta and Bali Only Reach 65 Percent

KOMPAS.com - Hotel room occupancy rates in various parts of Indonesia nearly failed to reach 100 percent during the 2026 Eid holiday period. The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) recorded an average hotel occupancy rate in Indonesia of 70-80 percent during the 2026 Eid holiday. Only hotels in certain tourist areas recorded occupancy above 90 percent, including hotels in Malang City and Batu City in East Java. Followed by Semarang City, where hotel occupancy could reach 100 percent on Monday (23/3/2026), then dropping to 39 percent and 27 percent respectively from Wednesday (25/3/2026) to Thursday (26/3/2026). Likewise, hotels in West Sumatra welcomed many guests during the Eid holiday. Yusran stated that the increase in hotel occupancy in this province occurred over a fairly long period until the end of the joint leave for the 2026 Eid holiday. Whereas last year, hotel occupancy in West Sumatra was relatively low. “So it (occupancy) started to rise on the 23rd and the occupancy was quite high until at least 80 percent and that lasted until 30 March,” said Yusran. “West Java was the same. So the high one was in Bogor. Bogor had occupancy of 91 percent on 22-23 March,” Yusran revealed. Meanwhile, in Cirebon, also located in West Java, occupancy was recorded at 83-88 percent. “But again, on the 24th they dropped. In Bogor, it could be 56 percent and on the 25th 48 percent,” Yusran explained. “So there were many drops like that. And also the high one in Sukabumi, in West Java, but again only on the 23rd, then on the 24th-25th it returned to 34 percent and 39 percent,” he added.
