The Puncak tourist area in Bogor, West Java, has seen a significant influx of visitors during the school holiday period, driving hotel occupancy rates up to 90 percent. The increase was reported by the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Bogor Regency.

Secretary of PHRI Bogor Regency, Boboy Riswanto, stated on Monday (6/7/2026) that the 90 percent occupancy was recorded on Saturday night, with the average occupancy rate for the holiday week exceeding 50 percent. The data was compiled from 35 member hotels, which collectively offer 2,700 rooms, and does not include unregistered villas.

The surge in tourism has resulted in heavy traffic congestion along Jalan Raya Puncak. The Bogor Police Traffic Unit recorded a total of 184,017 vehicles travelling to and from the area on Saturday (4/7) and Sunday (5/7) via the Jagorawi Toll Road. Ipda Aditya Ramadhan Hidayat, a traffic unit officer, noted that 45,918 vehicles headed towards Puncak on Saturday, while 47,680 exited via the Ciawi Toll Gate. On Sunday, 44,533 vehicles entered the area and 45,886 left. He added that traffic remained congested on Monday afternoon as the public’s enthusiasm for holidaying in Puncak remained high.
