Jakarta (ANTARA) - Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia has officially conducted a soft opening in the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex area, Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This three-star hotel becomes the first accommodation operating in the developing pilgrimage area, which is increasingly visited by domestic and international tourists.

Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has positively welcomed the presence of Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia, built by investors from Indonesia. In addition to contributing to the development of the tourism sector and the local economy, the hotel’s presence also serves as a symbol of strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Uzbekistan.

The Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex, spanning an area of around 45 hectares, has now developed into one of the main religious tourism icons in Samarkand, with a visitor capacity of up to 65,000 people per day. The presence of accommodation facilities such as Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia is expected to support the comfort of pilgrims and tourists visiting the area.

The soft opening event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, together with the Deputy Governor of Samarkand, Rustam Kobilov, and CEO of EGI Resources, Erslan Gazali Ibrahim.

The opening procession was lively with performances of Indonesian cultural arts, including Legong dance, various archipelago dances, and angklung performances that received a warm welcome from the invited guests. The atmosphere became even more interactive when the guests joined in playing the angklung together. Typical Indonesian culinary offerings such as rendang and tongseng were also served, complementing the Indonesian cultural experience at the event. Previously, the series of events was also started with the cutting of tumpeng as a symbol of gratitude.

The presence of Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia is part of EGI Resources’ commitment as an Indonesian investment company in expanding its business network globally, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Moreover, this project is also designed to present a mutually beneficial business model, where tourism and accommodation activities managed abroad still have strategic linkages with Indonesia’s economic ecosystem. Thus, the economic benefits created are expected to provide sustainable impacts, including for business actors and supporting industries in Indonesia through tourist flows, services, and involvement of the national supply chain.
