Hotel Borobudur Jakarta to Host Cap Go Meh 2026 Celebration
Hotel Borobudur Jakarta’s Lunar New Year and Ramadan 2026 programme series, titled ‘Discover Timeless Harmony’, culminates in the Cap Go Meh 2026 celebration — a cultural event reflecting Indonesia’s harmony, tolerance, and diversity. The Cap Go Meh celebration on 3 March 2026 is being organised in collaboration with the Indonesian-Chinese Association (INTI), the West Kalimantan Indonesian Chinese Association (PTKI), and the Bekasi Spiritual Union.
Designed as an immersive cultural and culinary experience in an elegant setting, the Cap Go Meh Dinner & Entertainment will run in the Flores Ballroom from 18:00 until completion. The evening will feature a special performance by singer Icha Yang singing Mandarin classics. Earlier, visitors will be greeted by Fu Lu Shou and Caishen, symbols of good fortune, with the soothing sound of traditional Chinese music.
In addition, the programme will include spectacular entertainment such as Barongsai (lion dance) and Liong, the traditional Chinese mask dance ‘Bian Lian’, and attractive door prizes.
Priced at IDR 1,388,000 net per person, guests will enjoy a fusion of exquisite traditional dishes with the Yu-Shang ritual process of ‘Lo Hei’ — tossing high salad symbolising prosperity, good luck and abundance. This will be followed by a luxurious nine-course menu featuring items such as Salmon Yu Shang Salad, Steamed Sultan Fish with Sichuan Pickled Mustard Greens, and Double-Boiled Dried Fig with Red Lotus Soup.

The Cap Go Meh celebration will also be enlivened by the Cap Go Meh Parade & Festival from 15:30 to 20:00. The parade starts at the hotel’s Main Lobby and ends at the Borobudur Backyard, the festival hub. In addition to Barongsai, Liong, Fu Lu Shou and Caishen, the parade will feature Tatung — a traditional West Kalimantan symbol of warding off misfortune — which accompanies Barongsai and Liong, representing luck and prosperity, and serving as a tangible expression of preserving Chinese culture within Nusantara’s diversity.
This attraction is supported by the West Kalimantan Indonesian Chinese Association and the Bekasi Spiritual Union. The parade will also be joined by hundreds of hotel staff dressed in Chinese traditional attire, all aimed at delivering a dynamic cultural experience while animating the entire hotel in a celebratory spirit.
In the Borobudur Backyard, the Cap Go Meh Festival offers a family-friendly ambience. Guests, especially children, can enjoy a range of educational kids activities and directly interact with Tatung, Barongsai, Liong and Fu Lu Shou. In addition, there will be Tai Chi performances by the Dong Yue Taiji Quan Indonesia Association, followed by a live acoustic band to enhance the festival atmosphere.
