Strengthening its reputation as an environmentally friendly hotel, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, together with Artha Graha Peduli (AGP), once again participated in Earth Hour 2026 with the theme “Give Space to the Earth”.

Exceeding the standard Earth Hour duration of 60 minutes, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta and Artha Graha Peduli consistently implemented this initiative for 90 minutes, to optimise the impact of energy savings and more maximal efficiency in resource use.

As part of this initiative, lighting in several public areas was turned off for 90 minutes, from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM WIB, and replaced with candlelight scattered at various points, creating a warmer and more reflective atmosphere.

In line with the theme promoted, this moment is expected to provide space for guests to enjoy togetherness in a calmer and more meaningful atmosphere.

This step is not only symbolic but also reflects real efforts to reduce energy consumption and increase awareness of the importance of resource efficiency.

During the implementation of Earth Hour for 90 minutes on Saturday, 28 March 2026, exceeding the global standard duration, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta successfully recorded significant energy savings across various operational systems.

The HVAC system became the main contributor, while efficiencies from mechanical and electrical systems provided a contribution of up to 25 percent of the total energy savings, demonstrating optimisation of performance across all systems during the period.

This achievement confirms that a longer duration provides a more optimal impact in energy efficiency efforts. Hotel Borobudur Jakarta invites guests to join Earth Hour 2026 as a simple yet impactful form of environmental care.

Through ongoing commitment to energy efficiency and water conservation, the hotel continues to strive to make a positive contribution to the earth and encourage a more responsible and sustainable lifestyle.

This commitment is also reflected through various awards received, including the Republika ESG Now Award 2025 for the Green Initiative category, Landmark Hotels in Asia at the ACES Awards 2025, Silver Winner Sustainable Hotel (5-Star Category) at the Wonderful Indonesia Awards 2025, Jakarta Leading Cultural & Heritage Hotel at the Jakarta Tourism Awards 2025, and the ASEAN Green Hotel Award 2026, which further strengthens Hotel Borobudur Jakarta’s position as a hotel consistently implementing sustainability principles.
