Hotel Arianz Forcibly Evicted by Mataram District Court
The Mataram District Court (PN) has forcibly evicted and emptied the building and land of Hotel Arianz on Jalan Catur Warga, behind Taman Sangkareang. The eviction was dramatic and drew a crowd of local residents, with the operation guarded by hundreds of police officers. A large billboard featuring President Prabowo Subianto’s face with the message ‘Mr Prabowo, please help us, our assets are being seized’ was displayed on the hotel wall.
Execution Officer of PN Mataram, Anak Agung Nyoman Diksa, explained the eviction was carried out forcibly because the Hotel Arianz building had been used as collateral for a loan from Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Palembang Branch. ‘Because they could not pay, BNI Palembang Branch submitted the auction to the Mataram State Assets and Auction Service Office (KPKNL). The auction was won by PT Prima Hotel and the buyer’s tax payment has been paid in full,’ Diksa said. PN Mataram had issued two warning letters to Hotel Arianz, but the hotel management did not respond.
Legal counsel for the Hotel Arianz heirs, Sofyan Dwi Rizki, stated the hotel objected to the forced eviction as it occurred while legal proceedings were still ongoing and no final, legally binding decision had been reached. He argued the previous auction was procedurally flawed, noting that BNI had repeatedly sent correspondence to the rights holder, I Gede Angke Kusuma, who had passed away in 2025. Sofyan questioned why BNI and KPKNL did not disclose the auction value, claiming the heirs were told the result was not their right. He explained the dispute began when the hotel partnered with a Jakarta-based entrepreneur through PT Bencoolen Lombok Indah, who managed the credit with BNI. Problems arose when the remaining debt stood at Rp 14.5 billion. The heirs attempted to pay Rp 3 billion by cheque, but BNI rejected the payment, demanding full settlement. The heirs also complained that they received the eviction notice only on Thursday afternoon, leaving no time to prepare.
Hotel Director and heir I Made Agus Ariana has sent complaints to various parties, including Commission III of the House of Representatives and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), but received no response. He appealed directly to President Prabowo Subianto for justice, stating he was not asking for projects or positions, only fairness in his own region. He urged the President, as a fellow businessman, to be aware of what he described as unjust legal treatment.
