Hosting 55th PTQ, Ministry of Religious Affairs and RRI Foster Quranic Youth in the Digital Era
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) is once again holding the 55th Pekan Tilawatil Quran (PTQ) 1447 H in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) to foster a Quranic generation of young people in the digital era.
The theme adopted for this year's 55th PTQ is "Strengthening the Quranic Young Generation in the Digital Era, Realising Golden Indonesia 2045", chosen to remind younger generations of the importance of continuing to follow the teachings of the Quran in the digital age.
"In the digital era, life's pathways are increasingly diverse and full of challenges. Information is abundant, opinions swirl everywhere, and values often clash with one another. In such circumstances, we need the most upright, solid, and steadfast guidance capable of safeguarding and upholding human dignity. That is the essence of the Quran's teachings," said the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Director of Islamic Religious Communication, Muchlis M. Hanafi, in Jakarta on Thursday.
The PTQ, which has been held since 1968, serves as a space for mentorship, cultural outreach, and the strengthening of Quranic values through public broadcasting media. This year's event is being conducted centrally in a hybrid format, comprising online audition stages followed by an in-person grand final in Jakarta.
The 55th PTQ RRI features four competition categories: tilawah (Quranic recitation), tahfidz Al-Quran (Quran memorisation), tausiyah (religious address), and tartil for the visually impaired. Participant registration was open online from 9 to 16 February 2026, with the assessment and curation process taking place from 18 to 24 February 2026, conducted centrally using a digital system to ensure accuracy and transparency in judging.
The tilawah category is open to general participants from all RRI work units and production stations across Indonesia, whilst the tausiyah, tahfidz, and visually impaired tartil categories are represented by delegates from 17 RRI regional coordinators nationwide. A total of 1,588 participants have registered, with an age limit of 17 to 30 years for the tilawah, tausiyah, and tahfidz categories, and 17 to 35 years for the visually impaired tartil category.
Today also saw the inauguration of the judging panel, comprising 18 members drawn from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The panel is tasked with evaluating participants across the four competition categories in a professional, objective, and independent manner in accordance with prevailing Quranic scholarly standards.
The President Director of the Public Broadcasting Institution Radio Republik Indonesia (LPP RRI), Hendrasmo, stated that the national grand final stage will feature 24 finalists — three male and three female contestants from each category — to be held live at RRI Jakarta on 27 February 2026.
"Through the national broadcast network, RRI's digital platforms, and multiplatform support, the 55th PTQ is not merely a competition but also a Quranic literacy movement reaching young people, Muslim families, and religious communities throughout Indonesia. This event is expected to strengthen the spiritual resilience of the younger generation and bring benefit to the wider community," said Hendrasmo.
