Hostess strangled to death

JAKARTA (JP): A nightclub hostess was strangled to death yesterday by her husband in Petogogan, South Jakarta, police reported.

South Jakarta district police reported the victim, identified as Susanti, 25, was killed by her jealous husband Tedi Setiawan, 30, who turned himself in.

Rusdiansah, the victim's father, said his daughter worked as a hostess at a night club in Blok M, South Jakarta, while Tedi was jobless.

"Tedi has not worked during their three years of marriage," Rusdiansah said.

Before the tragedy occurred early Monday morning, Susanti told her parents, who live near her boarding house, that she was planning to stay overnight with her aunt in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, Rusdiansah said.

"She always told us when she was going out because she always left her 2-year-old son with us whenever she went," said Rusdiansah, adding that their daughter was on vacation at the time of her death.

Susanti apparently canceled her plan to stay with her aunt and returned home at around 2 a.m. Shortly after she had an argument with her husband, which ended in her murder, Rusdiansah said.

One of Susanti's neighbors said she had not been home for three days before she was killed. (01)
