Horrifying Facts Revealed from Autopsy of Student Shot Dead by Friend

Horrifying facts have emerged from the autopsy of Mario Marselina Kura (24), a student at Stella Maris University in Sumba Barat Daya (SBD) who died after being shot by his friend Alexander Bili Kandu (20) with an air rifle in Weepangali village, Tambolaka City District, West Sumba.

Forensic doctors discovered an extremely fatal wound, with an air rifle pellet lodged in the victim’s heart. “From the autopsy results, one bullet pellet was found lodged in the victim’s heart sac,” stated Iptu Yakobus Kokleo Sanam, chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of West Sumba Barat Daya Police, to detikBali on Monday (1/6/2026).

Yakobus explained that the autopsy was conducted at approximately 09:47 Wita by forensic doctor Edwin Tambunan from the East Nusa Tenggara Police and his team. He said the complete examination results are still awaiting the official forensic doctor’s report, which will be submitted to investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sumba Barat Daya Police for inclusion in the case file.

“However, the bullet has already been secured by investigators as evidence. The autopsy was carried out safely and smoothly,” Yakobus clarified.

Previously, Mario was reported to have died after being shot with an air rifle by Alexander. Before the incident, the victim allegedly asked to be shot in jest.

The incident occurred in Weepangali village, Sumba Barat Daya, at approximately 16:00 Wita on Friday (22/5). “This is a case of criminal abuse of an air rifle resulting in the victim’s death,” stated Iptu Yakobus Sanam, chief of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Sumba Barat Daya Police, when contacted by detikBali from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, on Saturday (23/5/2026).

Yakobus revealed that Alexander arrived at Mario’s shop carrying an air rifle to buy cigarettes. At the location, Alexander was served by the victim’s younger brother, Antonio Moru Kodu (10).

After shopping, Alexander was jokingly rebuked by Mario, who asked him to shoot the victim. Shortly after, Alexander cocked the air rifle and fired a bullet into Mario’s right chest, causing the victim to fall.

“Initially, the victim made a joking remark saying ‘go ahead and shoot me in the chest’. After that, the perpetrator immediately shot the victim, causing him to fall to the ground,” Yakobus said.
