Hopes for the annual MPR session

Hopes for the annual MPR session

The People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) began its annual
session on Aug. 1. This session aims to finalize the fourth
amendment of the 1945 Constitution.

This year's annual MPR session, whether we agree or not, is
crucial for the nation's continuation. The fourth amendment will
become the basis of our country's existence. The amendments will
give directions on what the country should do to reach its goals
regarding the legal, socioeconomic and political systems it wants
to adopt.

Everyone wants this annual session to proceed smoothly and
discuss the agenda as planned.

We cannot imagine the big loss to our nation if the amendment
reaches deadlock. The public would be plunged into legal,
political and economic uncertainties, which would worsen the
situation as the country tries to emerge out of the
multidimensional crisis that has plagued it these past three
years.

At least the session will hopefully provide a way out should
amending the Constitution reach deadlock.
