Hopeful and Anxious Ojol Drivers in Jogja Await News of BHR Payout
Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced a Bonus Hari Raya (BHR) for online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol). In relation to this, several drivers in Jogja say they have not received information from the apps.
Samuel, an ojol driver from the city of Jogja, says he has not received information from his app regarding the BHR. However, Samuel says he is resigned about whether he will receive the BHR or not.
“The app hasn’t shown anything yet; usually if there is information, there is a notification in the app, but so far there isn’t anything for my app,” Samuel said when approached in the Pasar Beringharjo area, Wednesday (4 March 2026).
“Honestly there is nothing related to that at all, even though the news has appeared. If they give it, I will accept it; if not, thats it,” he added.
Similar comments were made by Seto, an ojol driver who often hangs around the Malioboro area. He says he has not heard information about this BHR.
“If Lebaran is coming, we hope (to receive BHR),” Seto said.
“Last year I received Rp 50 thousand; it depends on the account; if the account is good, you get more. When looking at previous months, last year (the highest) some got Rp 500 or 600 thousand, so it might be like that now,” he explained.
DetikFinance reports that ojol drivers are confirmed to receive the Bonus Hari Raya (BHR) or ‘Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR)’ during Lebaran 2026.
Disbursement is targeted to begin earlier from H-14 to H-7 before Idul Fitri.
Airlangga said the BHR policy for ojol has been communicated intensively with the apps.
The number of drivers to receive BHR is around 850,000, with a total budget of Rp 220 billion.
“The amount of BHR in 2026 will cover around 850,000 recipients or drivers, with a total value of Rp 220 billion,” Airlangga said in a press conference at his office in Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (3 March).
Airlangga noted that the budget amount is higher than last year. For the number of recipients, each app such as Grab and Gojek will distribute the BHR to 400,000 of their driver partners each.
“Gojek and Grab will distribute the BHR to 400,000 driver partners each,” he said.
“We urge the disbursement to be done earlier from H-14 or at the latest H-7 before Eid al-Fitr,” he added.
