Hoodlum killed by colleague

BOGOR (JP): A dispute over a guitar ended up in the death of a notorious hoodlum. His body was found lying on a soccer field near his home in Pasir Angin subdistrict, Cileungsi on Monday night.

A Cileungsi Police Subprecinct officer said on Tuesday the man, identified as Dede alias Ikat, 18, died from stab wounds to his head and back. Some of his teeth were also missing.

Based on neighbors' statements, police detectives arrested Dede's acquaintance, Odang, at his home in the early hours of Tuesday. When police arrived Odang was lying on his bed with a stab wound to his knee.

During questioning, Odang admitted that he and his other mate, Hery, 19, killed Dede after the latter refused to compensate Odang for his guitar which he had broken.

Hary remains at large.

Police suspected that Dede was a drug trafficker after they found an envelope of dry marijuana and Rp 586,000 (US$61) in cash in his pocket.

A relative of Dede, Wirta, said the victim's parents were shocked by the murder. Dede was their only child. (21)
