Honoris makes circuit packs
JAKARTA (JP): PT Honoris Industry, a Modern group subsidiary, and Lucent Technologies of the United States have finished making circuit pack telecommunications equipment for state-owned PT Telkom.
Circuit pack is essential equipment for telecommunications switching.
The Modern group's vice president, Michael V. Haribowo, said yesterday that the country, particularly Honoris, would benefit from manufacturing the equipment because it would master modern technology: "We will then be able to create modifications."
Honoris, the country's leading camera maker, recently won an ISO 9002 certificate issued by the Singapore Institute of Standard and Industrial Research.
Honoris has signed a deal with Lucent to assemble 10,000 circuit pack units a year.
Lucent, formerly affiliated with the U.S. telecommunications giant AT&T, has set up a joint venture in West Java called PT Lucent Technologies Network Systems Indonesia.
The Indonesian joint venture switching maker is 75 percent owned by Lucent and 25 percent by PT Citra Telekomunikasi Indonesia, a subsidiary of Citra Lamtorogung Persada, a private business group controlled by Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, the eldest daughter of President Soeharto. (icn)
