Honoris Hospital reported to police

TANGERANG: Retno Pancawati, a Tangerang resident, reported Honoris Hospital in Tangerang to the Jakarta Police for negligence.

She said that her mother Cicilia Djarwati, 70, was still unconscious after eye surgery at the hospital on May 25.

"She also now suffers severe bed rashes on her hip and thighs," Retno said after filing the report.

She said that her mother was in the operating room for two and half hours before the doctor took her out and said that they had canceled the surgery.

"They said that my mother was throwing up and fell unconscious after they gave her medication for her eye just before the surgery. Until now, we don't know what kind of medicine they gave her," said Retno, who was accompanied by a lawyer from the Health Legal Aid Foundation (LBH Kesehatan).

Police have received reports of around 40 cases of alleged hospital or doctors' negligence in the past year. However, only one case has reached the court so far. -- Antara
