Jakarta (ANTARA) - Honor is rumoured to be preparing the release of its first wide-format foldable smartphone in January 2027, aiming to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 and Apple’s iPhone Duo.

As reported by 9to5 Google on Monday (5/10) local time, this information comes from technology leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), who stated that Honor’s wide-screen foldable will feature a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.6-inch internal display when unfolded.

Regarding battery capacity, the foldable device is expected to carry a substantial 7,000 mAh battery. In terms of the camera system, the phone will be equipped with a 200 MP main camera accompanied by a periscope telephoto lens.

This camera specification serves as a key selling point for Honor, particularly as neither the Galaxy Z Fold8 nor the iPhone Duo currently include telephoto sensors in their wide-screen foldable models.

Another leaker, Smart Pikachu, also mentioned that Honor will release its wide-screen foldable in January. However, it remains unclear whether this release is intended specifically for the Chinese market or if it will target the global market as well.

Within the smartphone industry, Honor is considered a significant manufacturer to watch. Its Honor Magic V6 foldable was among the top-performing foldable phones released in 2026.

As the industry trend shifts towards wider screen aspect ratios, it will be interesting to see the options offered by other manufacturers that have yet to release foldable phones in this specific format.
