Honor, a smartphone vendor, has announced a new collaboration with German film technology company ARRI. The collaboration was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 technology fair in Barcelona. ARRI is a professional film equipment maker founded in 1917, producing film cameras, lenses, lighting systems, and post-production gear for the film industry. Through this collaboration, Honor and ARRI aim to bring cinema-grade video recording capabilities to Honor smartphones in compact form. “Our aim is to deliver true cinematic aesthetics to smartphone imagery, natural colours, gentle highlight gradation, and authentic depth as storytelling should be seen,” as quoted by KompasTekno from GSMArena. The two companies hope that from this partnership, content creators can record content with Honor smartphones and then seamlessly transition to professional post-production workflows without obstacles. The camera collaboration between Honor and ARRI will first appear on the Honor Robot Phone. The device is scheduled to launch at the end of 2026. Honor Robot Phone is a concept smartphone introduced by Honor at MWC 2026. The camera gimbal folds and stores in the rear camera module when not in use, and will rotate upwards when activated. The Robot Phone’s camera is equipped with a 3-axis gimbal integrated directly into the device body. Thanks to multimodal AI technology included, the camera can track subjects automatically and adjust capture angles. This AI-powered robot camera feature is designed to enhance video calls and content recording experiences, especially in moving conditions. The system also enables the camera to display gestures, such as nodding or moving to the rhythm of music. Honor describes this approach as an attempt to deliver a more “lively” interaction between the device and user through a combination of mechanical hardware and AI. Honor has not disclosed full specifications or pricing.
