Honor Reveals Video Capabilities of Robot Phone Gimbal Camera
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Honor has revealed the latest details regarding the Robot Phone, a device first introduced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 and scheduled to launch in the third quarter of this year. According to reports from Gizmochina on Wednesday (3/6) local time, Honor stated that the Robot Phone is specifically designed for video production.
Unlike conventional smartphones that utilise fixed camera modules, this phone is equipped with a three-axis gimbal camera system positioned at the top of the device. The Robot Phone’s gimbal camera features a 200-megapixel sensor that can rotate both forwards and backwards as required for filming.
To enhance imaging capabilities, Honor has partnered with ARRI, a technology company widely recognised in the professional film industry. This collaboration introduces several features, including AI-based subject tracking, intelligent shooting, automated camera movement, and AI-driven video editing tools.
One of the device’s strengths is its durability, despite the inclusion of a moving camera component. Honor claims the Robot Phone possesses impact resistance comparable to its other flagship smartphones. However, Honor acknowledged that the device does not yet feature robust water resistance, stating that improvements to device durability will continue in subsequent generations.
Honor also revealed that the development process for the Robot Phone was more complex than anticipated. The development team reportedly spent approximately one year perfecting the concept, which included developing a compact gimbal motor, balancing the gimbal system, and addressing stability and rotational force issues. Several design revisions were undertaken before producing the prototype currently being shown to the public.
For users without prior photography or videography experience, the Robot Phone offers ready-to-use shooting templates and automatic tracking capabilities. These features are designed to help produce more stable and cinematic videos without the need for extensive manual adjustments.
