Honor has officially launched the Magic 9, featuring a relatively compact 6.37-inch display, dual 200MP main cameras, an 8,000 mAh battery, and the latest MagicOS 11 operating system.

According to a report from Gizmochina published on Monday (28/9) local time, the Magic 9 utilises a flat 6.37-inch OLED screen with 1.5K resolution, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits. The panel employs LTPS technology with ultra-thin 0.95 mm bezels.

In terms of design, the phone features a 3D glass body with a cold-carved process and a camera module inspired by classic film cameras. It has a thickness of 8.49 mm and weighs 209 grams.

In the photography sector, the Honor Magic 9’s primary camera uses a 200MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, an f/1.9 aperture, and CIPA 7.5 stabilisation. Additionally, there is a 200MP telephoto camera using a 1/1.56-inch sensor, an f/2.6 aperture, and an 85mm equivalent focal length with 3.5x optical zoom capability. This camera also features CIPA 7.5 stabilisation and supports up to 120x digital zoom. Both are accompanied by a 50MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera features a 55MP sensor with a 1/2.74-inch size and an f/2.0 aperture.

The front camera uses a square sensor shape, allowing users to switch between 1:1, 16:9, and 9:16 ratios without the limitations of standard rectangular selfie cameras.

Honor has also equipped the Magic 9 with the H1 chip to handle much of the image processing. This 6nm chip supports video noise reduction without data loss in RAW format. Honor claims this technology can improve the signal-to-noise ratio by up/to 8dB, allowing more detail to be preserved when shooting in difficult lighting conditions.

Through this collaboration, the Magic 9 introduces the ARRI LogC3 video pipeline feature, providing greater flexibility for colour grading during post-production. The phone also provides 87 official ARRI Looks that can be used to apply different cinematic colour characters to videos.

Other features include ARRI Movie Live, which uses a 2.39:1 widescreen format. This mode can continue recording for up to three seconds after the shutter button is pressed, allowing users to capture moving moments as short clips rather than just still photos. This mode also supports 4K video recording.

The Magic 9 also features a 200MP zoom-flash portrait mode, which combines the high-resolution telephoto camera with flash effects to produce more controlled lighting for portraits. For users requiring greater range, Honor also offers the G200 teleconverter accessory separately. This 88-gram, 81mm long accessory can be attached to the 85mm telephoto camera to produce an equivalent focal length of 200mm.

Regarding power, the Magic 9 is equipped with an 8,000 mAh battery supporting 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

The Magic 9 is the first in the series to run MagicOS 11. The operating system brings several AI-based features integrated with the YOYO assistant. One such feature is a dedicated AI button that can be used to record video snippets with a single press, with other functions assignable based on press patterns.

YOYO can also assist with various tasks, such as creating subtitle collages, trimming videos, and converting videos into Live content. There are also YOYO Task and YOYO Proactive Service features to help manage scheduled tasks and provide reminders, such as for food pickups or parcel collection codes.

Other AI features include AI Call Assistant, AI Calendar, AI Recorder, AI Notes, and AI File Management. Honor also provides cross-device features through the Honor Connect app. The Magic 9 can connect to Apple devices for certain functions, such as synchronising call notifications and photos via the cloud.

The Magic 9 holds IP68, IP69, and IP69K water and dust resistance certifications. The phone is available in four colours: Popcorn Yellow, Opening White, Curtain Black, and Olive Green.

In China, the Honor Magic 9 is priced starting from 4,999 yuan (approximately Rp13.3 million) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The 12GB/512GB model is priced at 5,499 yuan (approximately Rp14.7 million), while the 16GB/512GB variant is 5,999 yuan (approximately Rp16 million). The highest-end variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at 6,999 yuan (approximately Rp18.7 million).
