Hongqi Has Its Own Market in the Luxury Car Segment, Suitable for Officials
BEIJING, KOMPAS.com – Indomobil Group plans to bring the Chinese luxury car brand Hongqi to the Indonesian market.
This step is seen as an effort to expand premium vehicle choices, in line with the increasing interest in electric cars and automotive brands from China.
Indomobil Group’s Director, Andrew Nasuri, stated that Hongqi has a fairly specific market segment in Indonesia.
Implicitly, Andrew indicated that there are already potential consumers interested. However, he declined to reveal more details.
“It’s already there. We’ll see in due time. Just check the Gaikindo reports later,” he said.
In general, the luxury car market in Indonesia is not as large as the mass vehicle segment.
However, in recent years, this segment has shown growth, particularly driven by the increasing number of upper-class consumers and electrification trends.
Hongqi itself is not a new brand in China’s automotive industry. The brand was founded in 1958 by FAW Group and is known as one of the oldest passenger car brands in the country.
Over time, Hongqi has transformed into a premium automotive brand that also targets general consumers. Currently, its product line includes luxury sedans to electric SUVs.
Some of its flagship models include the Hongqi H9, which competes in the premium sedan segment, and the Hongqi E-HS9, a large-sized electric SUV.
