Hong Kong continues to target Muslim tourists from various countries in Southeast Asia. The Regional Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) for Southeast Asia, Liew Chian Jia (CJ), stated that he sees significant potential in the Muslim tourism segment, particularly Indonesia, which has the world’s largest Muslim population.

“For this reason, Hong Kong continues to enhance various Muslim-friendly facilities, such as halal restaurants, Muslim-friendly hotels, prayer facilities, and specialised travel guides like the Explore Hong Kong Muslim Guide,” said CJ when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday, 9 March 2026.

The territory has been recognised as The Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Destination 2025 at the Halal in Travel Awards 2025 by CrescentRating.

Several institutions in Hong Kong have received recognition for their excellence in enhancing travel experiences for Muslim tourists. The best Muslim-friendly hotels this year include Kowloon Shangri-La Hong Kong and The Mira Hong Kong.

Muslim-friendly attractions include Ngong Ping 360 Limited and the Muslim-friendly convention and exhibition centre, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Four newly certified halal dining establishments in Hong Kong include Lamma Rainbow Seafood Restaurant, Cuisine Cuisine, PIN Cookies, and Cookies Quartet.

“Last year, Hotel Kowloon Shangri-La offered a Ramadan breaking-of-the-fast menu, and this year they are continuing their commitment as a Muslim-friendly hotel by once again presenting a breaking-of-the-fast buffet during Ramadan,” said CJ.

Several tourist attractions in Hong Kong are also equipped with prayer areas to facilitate Muslim travellers in their religious observance, including Hong Kong Disneyland, Ngong Ping 360, and Ocean Park Hong Kong.

Muslim travellers can consult the specialised travel guide titled “Explore Hong Kong Muslim Guide” to learn more about Muslim-friendly tourist spots.
