Hong Kong Surpasses Singapore in Indonesian Investment for First Time in a Decade, Aided by China
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The value of investment from Hong Kong has surpassed that from Singapore for the first time in a decade. Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani stated that investment from Hong Kong reached US$5 billion in the second quarter of 2026. “I can report that in the second quarter, for the first time in 10 years, China’s investment has been more aggressive through Hong Kong, placing Hong Kong in first position for investment in the second quarter with US$5 billion,” he said during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Thursday (16/7/2026). Meanwhile, investment from Singapore ranked second with a value of US$4.2 billion in the second quarter of 2026. This was followed by investment from China, which came in third place with US$1.7 billion. Japan and Malaysia occupied the fourth and fifth positions with investment values of US$0.9 billion and US$0.7 billion, respectively. Throughout the second quarter of 2026, total investment in Indonesia reached Rp511.8 trillion, surging 7.1% from the same period in the previous year. In detail, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) accounted for Rp257.7 trillion, while Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) totalled Rp254.1 trillion.
