Hong Kong will host a series of celebratory events to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government announced on Wednesday. From July to August, the SAR government will organise a range of celebratory activities across all 18 districts of the city, encompassing patriotic education initiatives, according to an official press release. Special events focusing on the aerospace sector and green transition will also be held during this period, showcasing various national achievements and Hong Kong’s contributions in these fields, the SAR government stated. Speaking at the launch ceremony for the celebrations, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee said that since its return to the motherland, Hong Kong has enjoyed strong national support to maintain its long-term prosperity and stability, and relishes a promising future. “Hong Kong has embarked on a new journey from chaos to stability and prosperity, and this is a fine manifestation of the great vitality of ‘one country, two systems’,” he said. Also addressing the launch ceremony, Zhou Ji, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong SAR, expressed confidence in the city’s future prospects. “We are fully confident that Hong Kong, in the process of integrating into and serving the overall national development, will be able to achieve better development with greater prosperity and stability,” Zhou Ji said.
