Hong Kong flag not standard issue

SYDNEY (AFP): Games officials have apologized to Hong Kong athletes after it was revealed they marched under a wrongly- designed flag during the Games opening ceremony.

The five stars and pointed petals of the bauhinia, the territory's flower, were slightly out of position on the flag.

The Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games apologized and assured Hong Kong that there were no other incorrect Hong Kong flags.

Hong Kong Olympic officials said it was "most unfortunate" the discrepancy was not noticed during rehearsals.
