Hong Kong Aims for Widespread AI Adoption
Hong Kong will push for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industrial sector so that all its citizens can eventually adopt and understand the technology. This was stated by the Secretary for Financial Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Paul Chan when delivering the 2026-2027 budget on Wednesday.
Chan said he would establish and lead the Committee on AI+ and Industry Development Strategy to formulate strategies and create favourable conditions for AI to drive transformation and development in various industries.
Chan revealed that the committee would consist of experts, academics, companies, and industrial park companies, with an initial focus on biotechnology and healthcare, as well as embodied AI.
