JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Honda is currently developing new performance components for the Civic Type R. These parts are being developed directly by Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and are inspired by racing car technology.

The confirmation was made by HRC President, Koji Watanabe, at the Honda All Type R World Meeting at the Motegi Circuit, Japan, last week.

Previously, Honda had introduced the Civic Type R HRC Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show in January 2026. The concept car featured a more aggressive design with additional aerodynamic body kits and several performance enhancements.

Some of the components used include a new front bumper, overfenders, side skirts, a large rear spoiler, a new diffuser, and Akrapovic exhaust.

Watanabe stated that the technology used in these parts was developed from Honda’s experience in the Super Endurance and Super GT racing series.

However, Honda will not be selling the Civic Type R HRC version as a special model. All performance components will be sold separately, allowing customers to choose the parts that suit their needs.

“We hope to launch them as soon as possible,” said Watanabe, quoted by Carscoops, Friday (15/5/2026).

Not only will these performance parts for the Civic Type R be marketed in Japan, but they are also being developed for the US market.

However, before being sold to consumers, all components must still go through the homologation process and meet applicable safety standards.

Although the process is quite lengthy, Honda has indicated that all performance parts for the Civic Type R are now nearing the mass production stage.
