Honda to raise output in RI

TOKYO (AFP): Japan's Honda Motor Co. Ltd. said yesterday it
would raise motorcycle production in Indonesia and open a second
production plant.

The world's leading motorcycle manufacturer said in a
statement it would lift Indonesian production from 550,000 units
in 1995 to 650,000 this year.

Honda said it would set up a second motorcycle plant in
Indonesia by redesigning a bicycle production plant at PT Federal
Motor, which has a technical tie up agreement with the Japanese
company.

The plant would produce 125 cc and 200 cc motorcycles, it
said.

Honda said it was targeting production of two million
motorcycles in Indonesia in 2000.
