Honda Rebel 500 Modified by Frontwheel Motors: A Simple Bobber Style
BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - The Honda Rebel 500 is one of the cruiser motorcycle options in Indonesia. It has a fairly classic appearance, a low seat, and a relaxed riding position.
Frontwheel Motors, a modification workshop in Bogor, has transformed the Rebel 500 from a cruiser into a bobber. The modifications are simple, but they significantly enhance the motorcycle’s aesthetics.
Chandra Gunawan, the owner of Frontwheel Motors, explained that the Rebel 500 could also be modified into a scrambler or flat-tracker. However, to keep it simple, they opted for modifications that would not require significant changes to the frame.
As a result, Chandra replaced several components with bolt-on parts. For example, he changed the fenders, seat, handlebars, and adjusted the riding ergonomics to make it even more comfortable.
“The modifications were made to be simple. The turn signals were replaced with smaller ones, the headlight was changed to a 575 size, the front and rear fenders were shortened, the seat was made slimmer, the skid plate was replaced, and so was the exhaust,” said Chandra.
“This motorcycle is rarely used. So, it’s just going to be a display piece at home,” said Chandra.
Although the modifications are aesthetic, the comfortable cruiser riding position is still maintained. So, it’s not just about the appearance, but also about functionality.
“The total cost is around IDR 25 million. This does not include the tires, as he installed them himself. The rims were also repainted, from black to gray,” said Chandra.
