Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Major discounts have returned for Honda electric motorcycles in Indonesia. This promotional programme has dramatically reduced the price of one of Honda’s flagship models, the Honda CUV e:, from approximately Rp50 million to around Rp30 million.

The price reduction is being offered by Astra Honda Motor’s main dealer in the Jakarta and Tangerang region, Wahana Makmur Sejati, during March 2026. According to information from the dealer’s official website, consumers can obtain instalment reductions of up to Rp24.087 million.

With this scheme, the electric motorcycle, which has an on-the-road price of approximately Rp54.45 million, can be purchased for around Rp30 million through a credit scheme. The programme consists not only of instalment reductions but also extended payment terms of up to three additional months during the financing period.

“Currently, we do have special sales programmes for several of our models, including electric motorcycles, during certain periods. Specifically in March, we have a sales programme with discounts of up to Rp20 million, but again, that is left to individual dealers,” said the management of Wahana Makmur Sejati in a statement to CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (11/3/2026).

Large promotions are not new for this model. In a previous promotional period, the price reduction for the CUV e: even reached Rp35.187 million, bringing the effective price down to approximately Rp19 million.

This discount programme is one of the manufacturer’s strategies to maintain consumer interest in electric two-wheelers amid uncertainty regarding the continuation of government incentives. Octavianus Dwi, Director of Marketing at Astra Honda Motor, said that various sales programmes continue to be implemented to expand public experience with electric motorcycles.

“We continue to market them, provide experience, and prepare the infrastructure. Hopefully, periodic promotional programmes will be attractive,” said Octa in Jakarta.

Beyond the CUV e:, Honda is also offering promotions for another electric model, the Honda ICON e:. For this model, the discount reaches approximately Rp6 million from its normal price of around Rp28 million.

Regarding specifications, the CUV e: is equipped with a 6 kW electric motor capable of reaching a top speed of approximately 83 km/h. With a fully charged battery, the motorcycle claims a range of up to 80.7 kilometres.

Power comes from two lithium-ion batteries using Honda’s Mobile Power Pack e: system. These batteries can be removed for swapping through a dedicated system or recharged independently using an off-board charger.

Charging time from empty to full takes approximately six hours. Partial charging from 25% to 75% requires approximately 160 minutes.

The electric motorcycle is also equipped with three riding modes: ECON, STD, and Sport. Features include a USB Type-C charging port on the centre console, a TFT screen panel displaying various vehicle information including navigation and music control, and a call reception and dialling function. Honda’s signature smart key system is also fitted to enhance rider security.

The significant discount now being offered by Honda demonstrates that competition in the electric motorcycle segment is intensifying. Manufacturers are increasingly relying on promotional programmes to attract consumers whilst introducing electric vehicles to a market still dominated by petrol-fuelled motorcycles.
