Honda Brio driver attacked by mob after hit-and-run in Bekasi following indecent act discovery

BEKASI — Driver of Honda Brio attacked by mob after allegedly hitting and running a motorcyclist at Grand Galaxy Park in South Bekasi, Bekasi City, on Sunday evening (31 May 2026).

Inspector Rojali, head of the traffic law enforcement unit at Bekasi City Metropolitan Police, said that before the incident, the vehicle driven by MI with an unidentified female passenger was parked in the Ruko Sentra Bisnis 3 area, South Bekasi.

According to Rojali, security personnel identified as M suspected the driver and passenger were engaging in indecent acts inside the vehicle.

‘When they were about to engage in indecent acts, security arrived to check the vehicle,’ Rojali stated when contacted by Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Monday (1 June 2026).

While attempting to flee, the Honda Brio hit a glass pillar in the ruko area before speeding out towards the Lagoon.

‘During the escape, the vehicle hit a glass pillar in the ruko area and fled towards Lagoon,’ Rojali said.

During the escape, the car allegedly struck another motorcyclist whose identity remains unknown.

The incident triggered a chase by another motorcyclist named E with number plate B 4751 KHE, who was also a victim, and other road users.

‘After being stopped in the Lagoon area, the vehicle became the target of the mob’s anger,’ Rojali said.

Videos circulating show the front, rear, and side windows shattered, with several body panels damaged by the enraged mob.

However, police confirmed there were no fatalities in the incident.

‘Only material damage,’ Rojali said.
