Honda Brings Back the Joy of Driving to the Electrification Era with Delivery of Prelude to First 20 Customers
PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) officially handed over the Honda Prelude to the first 20 customers in Indonesia during an event held at the Vault Automotive Museum, South Jakarta, on Saturday. For Honda, the return of the Prelude is not merely the revival of a legendary name, but the reintroduction of the driving philosophy that serves as the soul of the brand: sporty, emotional, and enjoyable. This philosophy has now entered a new chapter through the latest Honda Prelude, a sport hybrid that brings the ‘Joy of Driving’ into the era of electrification.
Since orders opened, the Honda Prelude has received a positive response from consumers across various regions in Indonesia. More than 280 orders were recorded, coming not only from major cities on Java but also from other regions such as Palembang, Lampung, Bali, Lombok, Banjarmasin, and Makassar, exceeding the total unit allocation for this year. The age range of the customers, spanning different generations, demonstrates how the Prelude’s character remains relevant and capable of connecting with various automotive enthusiasts.
As one of Honda’s iconic models, the Prelude has a long history of providing a driving experience that is not only fast but also establishes an emotional connection between the car and the driver. Through its latest generation, Honda brings that character into the new era of electrification without losing the driving sensation that has long been a hallmark of the brand.
“The Honda Prelude represents how Honda brings the driving spirit into the new era of electrification, without abandoning the character that made people fall in love with Honda from the start. The Prelude is not just the return of an iconic name, but a reminder that technology should not diminish the feeling behind the wheel,” said Masanao Kataoka, President Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor.
One of the standout technologies in the latest Honda Prelude is the S+ Shift, a feature designed to provide a sportier and more immersive electrified driving experience. This system delivers more precise acceleration response and a more emotional driving sensation, as part of the ‘Joy of Driving’ philosophy maintained by Honda in the electric era.
To provide peace of mind for consumers, every Honda Prelude is equipped with a vehicle warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km, as well as a high-voltage battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km. Honda also provides the Prima+ maintenance package for 4 years or 50,000 km. All these services are supported by Honda’s official dealer network in Indonesia, which has been prepared to handle electrified vehicles.
The handover moment also served as the opening of ‘Honda Culture’ at the Vault Automotive Museum, a curated exhibition showcasing Honda’s journey through various iconic models, engineering philosophy, racing culture, and the evolution of Honda’s driving character through the ages. In this exhibition, Honda also displayed various heritage models across generations. The presence of these models is part of Honda’s long journey in providing vehicles that function not only as tools for mobility but also possess character, passion, and an emotional connection with their users.
“For Honda, heritage is not merely nostalgia. Heritage is proof of what a brand can consistently create in the past, present, and future. Proof that values, engineering philosophy, and the emotional connection with consumers can endure across generations,” added Kataoka.
