Tensions in the Middle East are beginning to concern various industrial sectors, including automotive. Honda is starting to calculate the potential impact on its business in Indonesia.

President Director of Honda Prospect Motor, Masanao Kataoka, said that the evaluation is still ongoing. He noted that it is too early to draw conclusions from the current situation.

“We are still examining the actual impact from the Middle East situation,” said Masanao during the Presidential Handover Ceremony HPM at the HPM Sunter office on Monday (30/3/2026).

He explained that the analysis process only began after the holiday period. Therefore, the available data is still limited.

“Until yesterday we were still on holiday, so now we are starting to check the impact,” he stated.

According to him, the main focus is on assessing the impact on operations. Production and distribution are the aspects receiving the most attention.

“We are looking at the impact on our production and models,” he said.

Masanao also highlighted the still-high uncertainty. This requires the company to be more cautious in making decisions.

“I do not yet know the current market conditions in detail,” he said.

He assessed that changes in oil prices may not immediately affect consumer behaviour. This includes the shift to electric vehicles, which still needs to be studied.

“We will examine the actual situation and consider our strategies,” he said.

Strategic decisions will be made after all data is gathered. Honda wants to ensure that the steps taken remain relevant.

“We will determine the direction as quickly as possible,” he stated.

Masanao emphasised that flexibility is key in facing global dynamics. The company will continue to adjust its strategies.

“We will adjust our strategies based on the existing conditions,” he said.
