Homecoming Traffic Begins: 650,213 Vehicles Leave Greater Jakarta in Four Days
Jakarta — The 2026 Eid homecoming (mudik) traffic surge is beginning to materialise. The number of vehicles departing Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi, collectively known as Jabotabek, continues to increase.
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk recorded 650,213 vehicles leaving Jabotabek during the period of H-10 to H-7 before Eid. This period occurred from 11–14 March 2026.
The figures represent accumulated traffic flow data from four major toll gates. These gates include Cikampek Utama Toll Gate heading towards Trans Java, Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate towards Bandung, Cikupa Toll Gate towards Merak, and Ciawi Toll Gate towards Puncak.
“The total traffic volume leaving the Jabotabek region reached 650,213 vehicles, representing a 7.1 per cent increase compared to normal traffic recorded at 607,351 vehicles,” said Rivan on Sunday (15 March 2026).
Vehicle movement was dominated by eastward direction, covering the Trans Java and Bandung networks.
A total of 297,893 vehicles travelled eastward, equivalent to 45.8 per cent of all vehicles departing Jabotabek.
Traffic towards the west towards Merak reached 210,397 vehicles, equivalent to 32.4 per cent of total vehicles.
Vehicle movement towards the south towards Puncak resort areas totalled 141,923 vehicles, equivalent to 21.8 per cent of vehicles leaving Jabotabek.
Traffic heading to Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate on Cipularang Toll Road recorded 129,030 vehicles, representing a 4.7 per cent decrease compared to normal conditions.
