Traffic management measures have been implemented as the 2026 Eid exodus period begins. The Indonesian National Police Traffic Management Centre (Korlantas Polri) has implemented contraflow and one-way systems to manage the anticipated increase in vehicle volume during the homecoming period.

According to the X account @PTJASAMARGA on Wednesday (18 March 2026), congestion occurred on the MBZ Elevated Highway at 07.20 WIB. Congestion points were reported at Central Cikarang Km 39 towards West Karawang Km 42. Additionally, traffic density also occurred at West Karawang Km 43 to Km 48 towards Cikampek.

As of 07.43 WIB, congestion was reported on the MBZ Elevated Highway at Cikunir Km 10 to West Bekasi Km 13, West Bekasi Km 14 to East Bekasi Km 17, and Tambun Km 21-Km 22 towards Cikampek. Meanwhile, the JORR E toll road also experienced congestion at Jatiasih Km 42 to Cikunir Km 45+200 towards Cikampek from 06.45 WIB.

Contraflow Implementation

Contraflow has been implemented on the toll road from Kilometre 55 to 70 heading towards Trans-Java. Implementation began on Tuesday (17 March 2026) evening.

“Tonight we will also implement contraflow from kilometre 55 to 70 to manage traffic flow towards the Trans-Java route,” said Inspector General Agus at the Traffic Management Centre Command Centre at Km 29 Cikarang, West Java, on Tuesday (17 March).

One-Way System Implementation

Currently, partial one-way traffic has been implemented from Km 70 to 263 on the Trans-Java toll road. Implementation began on Tuesday afternoon.

Inspector General Agus emphasised that authorities will continue to evaluate vehicle volume developments.

“Should there be a peak traffic surge tonight, we will coordinate with the Jasa Marga managing director. Should traffic surge again, we may extend the one-way system. However, if it eases, we will continue to evaluate,” he stated.

Inspector General Agus said the national one-way system will be implemented today. Implementation is planned to begin on Wednesday at 12.00 WIB.

“This can be monitored, and we have just monitored that traffic is relatively controlled, though traffic surge is increasing as evening approaches,” he said.

“So the one-way system will proceed as planned. Tomorrow, the Minister of Transport will likely lead the flag-off for the national one-way homecoming traffic at 12.00,” he added.
