Bandung — Jasa Marga toll operator has requested the public to schedule their homebound journeys to the Cileunyi toll gate (GT) in Bandung Regency, West Java, to anticipate congestion resulting from the rising volume of vehicles as the exodus peak approaches.

Agni Mayvinna, Senior Manager of Jasa Marga’s Representative Office 3 Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, said the public should estimate their travel times so they can reach Cileunyi outside peak hours in the afternoon and evening, as occurred on Saturday, 14 March.

“Congestion occurred on Saturday (14 March) from 3pm to 10pm, caused by the pattern of road users travelling simultaneously at the same time,” said Agni in a message to ANTARA in Bandung on Sunday.

In terms of volume, the increase at the Cileunyi toll exit began at 11am and lasted until 6pm, with 15,946 vehicles recorded exiting at the toll gate. This figure, according to Agni, represented an increase of approximately 7.92 per cent from normal traffic during the same period, which had recorded 14,786 vehicles. The figure is predicted to increase over time as the exodus approaches its peak two days before Eid al-Fitr 2026.

“To anticipate congestion, Jasa Marga is increasing staffing to assist with toll collection from homebound travellers,” said Agni.

Based on Jasa Marga’s records, from Friday, 13 March, the last working day, through Saturday, 14 March, a total of 69,352 four-wheeled or larger vehicles have passed through the Cileunyi toll gate. This figure is predicted to continue rising as counts for Sunday are not yet finalised and the peak exodus has not yet occurred.

As a precautionary measure to manage the increasing vehicle volume and prevent long queues, all 10 toll booths at the Cileunyi toll gate are currently operating at full capacity. Field officers at the toll gate continue to advise all homebound travellers to exercise caution while driving. Travellers are urged to always check their e-toll balance to prevent delays at the toll gate and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to maintain safety until reaching their home villages.
