The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) have implemented a new traffic flow pattern on the Palembang-Betung Functional Toll Road. Drivers can now exit at Pulau Rimau.

According to Antara news agency on Sunday (15 March 2026), the Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of Polda Sumsel explained that the new pattern has been in effect since Saturday (14 March). Vehicles coming from Kayu Agung heading towards Keramasan are now directed to exit via the Pulau Rimau exit access.

Vehicles coming from Jambi heading towards Palembang enter through Simpang Pulau Rimau, then access Desa Biyuku and can exit at the Musi Landas Toll Gate or at the COVID Memorial Site at Gandus Junction, then proceed to Jembatan Musi 2 Junction. Alternatively, they can exit via the access at Keramasan Toll Gate.

Vehicles from Palembang can enter via Keramasan Toll Gate and exit at Musi Landas Toll Gate, or enter from either Keramasan or Musi Landas toll gates and exit via the access at Desa Biyuku towards Simpang Pulau Rimau to reach the main route on the East Sumatra Highway (Jalintim).

Prior to this announcement, Senior Commissioner Maesa Soegwiro, Director of the Traffic Directorate of South Sumatra Regional Police, urged homebound travellers to observe traffic discipline, maintain safe distances, and avoid risky overtaking to prevent accidents and traffic congestion.

“We from the Traffic Directorate appeal to our brothers and sisters who will travel back to Sumatra to always obey traffic regulations, maintain safe distances, and avoid the ego of overtaking one another, which can cause accidents or traffic congestion because your loved ones are waiting for you in your hometown. Best regards,” he said.

After exiting the toll gate, vehicles will return to the East Sumatra Highway.

During this year’s Eid holiday traffic operations, only private vehicles are permitted to use the toll road. Freight trucks will continue to use the East Sumatra Highway from Jambi towards Palembang and vice versa.
