Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance Programme (BSPS), also known as the home renovation programme, has completed the construction or repair of 53,000 homes out of its 2026 target of 400,000 units.

Fitrah Nur, director-general of Settlement Areas at the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), said this year’s BSPS target had increased significantly from 45,000 units last year.

“Last year, the programme covered only 45,000 units and achieved 100 per cent of its target. This year, the target has risen very significantly to 400,000, or almost 8.5 times as much,” Fitrah said at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The higher target has also been accompanied by an increase in the BSPS budget.

In 2025, the programme had a budget of Rp1.02 trillion for 45,073 homes. In 2026, this rose to Rp8.9 trillion for 400,000 homes.

As a result, the BSPS budget in 2026 is up by around 773.5 per cent compared with the previous year.

Fitrah said implementation of the BSPS programme was currently 57.70 per cent complete.

However, progress in several regions still needs to improve to meet the target.

He said several provinces had recorded progress of 75 per cent or even 80 per cent. Meanwhile, around 10 provinces were still making relatively slow progress, prompting the government to push for faster implementation there.

“The lowest progress is in around 10 provinces, where we are now intensifying efforts day by day so they can catch up with the other provinces,” he said.

Fitrah explained that construction and renovation can proceed more quickly once assistance funds are transferred to the accounts of eligible recipients.

Under the BSPS programme, each home receives Rp20 million in assistance. Of this amount, around Rp17.5 million is allocated to building materials, while Rp2.5 million is used to pay workers.

He said he hoped cooperation among all those involved in implementation, from local governments to field officers, would help speed up completion of the programme.

Fitrah said he was optimistic that the target of 400,000 homes set by the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas could be met by the end of the year.
