Home of Andrie Yunus Visited by Unidentified Individuals Before Acid Attack
JAKARTA — The home of Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), was visited by unidentified individuals (OTK) on 16 January 2026.
This emerged from information provided by Andrie Yunus’s father to Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of KontraS’s Board of Workers.
“I spoke with Andrie’s father, and around January there were unknown individuals who visited Andrie’s house in the Sukabumi area, West Java,” Dimas said at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office in Central Jakarta on Friday (13 March 2026).
“They were enquiring about Andrie’s family. This is part of the story that Andrie’s parents have only just shared,” he explained.
Dimas suspects the visit of the unidentified individuals is connected to Andrie’s work as a board member and human rights defender at KontraS.
Additionally, the presence of unidentified individuals was also observed at the KontraS dormitory in Central Jakarta.
Muhammad Isnur, Chairman of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), stated that unidentified individuals visited the KontraS dormitory using a vehicle with a D-series registration plate.
“Over the past three days, people have come to the KontraS dormitory monitoring the building, standing in front of the dormitory entrance. When approached, they left. Several witnesses saw strangers around the KontraS residence in the three days before the incident,” Isnur explained.
According to witness accounts, the individuals who visited the KontraS dormitory were not local residents.
It was previously reported that Andrie Yunus was attacked with acid by unidentified individuals on Thursday (12 March 2026) evening.
According to Dimas Bagus Arya, the incident occurred at 23:37 Western Indonesian Time when Andrie Yunus was riding his motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.
As he passed the location, two individuals on a motorcycle believed to be a Honda Beat model from 2016 to 2021 approached the victim from the opposite direction on Jalan Talang (Talang Bridge).
“The perpetrators were two men operating with a single motorcycle, with each taking on the role of driver and passenger,” Dimas stated in a written statement confirmed by Kompas.com.
