Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has confirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has prepared itself for discussions on revising the Election Law. Tito said his party is ready for various scenarios in the revision of the Election Law. “We are conducting exercises, of course. If it’s a government initiative, we must be ready with the concept and draft. If the initiative comes from the DPR, we are ready with the DIM later, the list of issues,” Tito said after a meeting with Commission II of the DPR at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (11/6/2026). Tito stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs will lead the discussions on behalf of the government. Therefore, he noted, preparations are being made early. “Whatever the scenario, we are preparing ourselves. For Kemendagri, it will certainly be the lead from the government side. We are preparing. When the timing comes, whether from the government or the DPR to discuss it, we will be ready,” he said. Furthermore, Tito admitted he has not directly heard any proposal for the Election Bill to become a government initiative. However, he assured that his ministry is preparing for various possible scenarios. “I haven’t heard it directly, only an issue I’ve heard. But, as usual, Kemendagri as part of the government, especially as it usually leads in handling the drafting of laws on elections, regional elections, and so on, we must be ready with scenarios if the government takes the initiative,” he said. “We must be ready, so we are continuing to conduct studies now,” he added.
