Home Affairs Secretary General Urges Village Governments to Focus on Communities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Tomsi Tohir has underscored the importance of village governments maintaining a work orientation focused on the interests of their communities.
"We are striving to truly make a meaningful contribution to our communities," Tomsi said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.
He made the remarks at the Inauguration and National Working Meeting of the Central Executive Board of the Association of Village Governments Across Indonesia (APDESI) for the 2026–2031 period, held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Jakarta, on Monday.
In his address, Tomsi expressed hope that the newly inaugurated executive board would carry out its mandate with full responsibility and continue to strengthen synergy with relevant ministries and institutions. He also urged the organisation to channel its energy towards matters that genuinely have an impact on village communities.
Conversely, he cautioned board members against becoming caught up in unproductive communication dynamics or insubstantial issues.
Tomsi also extended his congratulations to all newly inaugurated members of APDESI's Central Executive Board.
"May you carry out this mandate faithfully, and our presence here together with all other ministries will be highly supportive. And once again, the focus must be on the people," Tomsi said.
Also in attendance were Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Yandri Susanto, Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Ahmad Riza Patria, Secretary General of the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Taufik Madjid, APDESI Central Executive Board Chairman Junaedhi Mulyono, and members of the APDESI Central Executive Board for the 2026–2031 period.
