Home Affairs Ministry's Dukcapil Instagram Account Hacked

The Instagram account of the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), @dukcapilkemendagri, has been taken over by an unauthorised party or hacked. Recovery efforts are reportedly still ongoing.

“NOTICE: The official Instagram account @dukcapilkemendagri is currently under the control of an unauthorised party,” read information quoted from the @kemendagri Instagram account on Wednesday (24/6).

The Ministry of Home Affairs urged the public to remain cautious until the account is successfully restored. “The public is advised not to respond to, share, or follow any instructions originating from the account until the security and recovery process is complete,” wrote Kemendagri. “Please be vigilant against any forms of fraud on behalf of the Directorate General of Dukcapil.”

Within the last 24 hours, posts on @dukcapilkemendagri have largely consisted of gold and iPhone sales.
