Home Affairs Ministry Seeks Rp6.27 Trillion Budget Increase for 2027
The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has requested that its budget for 2027 be increased by Rp6.27 trillion from the indicative ceiling of Rp4.65 trillion set by the Ministry of Finance and Bappenas. Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian stated that the indicative ceiling does not yet meet the ministry’s needs, given the national priority programmes and other crucial tasks it bears. “Therefore, we see that there is a need for additional budget, a proposed additional budget requirement of Rp6.27 trillion,” Tito said during a working meeting with House of Representatives Commission II at Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. According to Tito, based on the calculation of programme activities to be held next year, Kemendagri requires the additional Rp6.27 trillion, bringing the total projected budget ceiling to Rp10.93 trillion. He explained that Kemendagri’s strategic work in 2027 focuses on supporting the implementation of national priority programmes in the regions, including post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, the construction of three million houses, the Merah Putih village cooperative programme, accelerating development in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions, and tackling tuberculosis. Meanwhile, House Commission II expressed full support for the proposed additional budget and will discuss it in depth at the next meeting. Commission II requested Kemendagri to promptly submit a detailed matrix of priority programmes directly affected by the 2027 budget efficiency policy and to immediately coordinate intensively with the Ministry of Finance and Bappenas.
