The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has proposed a total budget of IDR 10.93 trillion for its 2027 fiscal year work programme during a working meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Thursday (11/6). This amount is more than double the indicative ceiling for 2027 set by the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) and the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) for Kemendagri, which stood at IDR 4.65 trillion. However, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian assessed that the indicative ceiling from the Ministry of Finance and Bappenas could not fulfil all work programmes, whether urgent ones or those included in national priority programmes. On that basis, his ministry proposed an additional IDR 6.27 trillion on top of the indicative ceiling. ‘Therefore, with all due respect, we request permission to propose a total budget ceiling for Kemendagri for 2027 of IDR 10.93 trillion,’ Tito said during the meeting. According to him, this figure already includes the budget for the Election Organiser Honour Council (DKPP), which operates under Kemendagri. In detail, Tito explained that the proposed increase would internally be used for operational and non-operational expenditure needs. For operational spending, Kemendagri is only proposing an increase of around IDR 169 billion for the salaries of part-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). Meanwhile, the largest increase will be allocated to non-operational spending, amounting to approximately IDR 5.01 trillion. ‘The allocation includes, among other things, 23 national priority work programmes to support national programmes, totalling IDR 810 billion, including IDR 403 billion for post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra, where we serve as the task force coordinator,’ Tito stated.
